Sweet Success Kitchen started as a place for us to talk about our freeze-dried candy business, but almost immediately turned into something much bigger.
There are so many aspects of running a small business, and often there is just one person trying to do it all – you! From creating the actual product or service, to sales and marketing, to keeping track of finances, juggling all of the tasks involved can leave you feeling like you are getting nowhere, fast!
We've had experience running small businesses over the years, from a local arts-crafts-herbs shop in a small town, to resale shops in vendor malls, to our sublimation printing business.
But starting up a freeze-dried candy business brought us into a different world! When it comes to a food-related business, there are extra layers of government regulation to follow – so where do you even start?
As we researched the cottage food laws in our state, and immersed ourselves in Facebook groups and forums, we realized how many more questions are out there, and that the answers aren't always easy to find. We'd like to change that, a bit, by collecting and sharing the resources we've found.
As we grow our own business, we hope to help you grow yours.
So, while we're not lawyers, we can point you in the direction of some great references to find information that will help you get started in your state.
